Residential, Commercial and School testing
WHY test for RADON?
You can't see RADON. And you can't smell in or taste it. But it may be a problem in your house, office, or school.
RADON is estimated to cause many thousands of deaths each year. That's because when you breathe air that contains RADON, you can get lung cancer. In fact, the Surgeon General has warned that RADON is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today. Only smoking causes more lung cancer deaths.
RADON can be found all over the U.S.
RADON comes from the natural (radioactive) breakdown of uranium in soil, rock and water and gets into the air you breathe. RADON can be found all over the U.S. It can ger into any type of building and result in a high indoor RADON level. You and your family are most likely fo get your greatest exposure at home. That's where you spend most of your time. RADON is the greatest source of radiation exposure to the public - 55% of your radiation exposure comes from RADON, even if your home concentration is very low.
You should test for RADON
Testing is the only way to know if you and your family are at risk from RADON. EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes below the third floor for RADON, and in Ohio, Jarod's law required that all schools be tested every five years. (The law was repealed in 2009).
Residential testing is easy - millions of Americans have already had their homes tested for RADON.
If you purchase a house, insist on a RADON test by INDOOR ENVIRONMENT as part of your whole-house inspection.
